Description

IGF-1 DES (Des(1-3)IGF-1) is a truncated form of insulin-like growth factor 1 lacking the first three N-terminal amino acids (Gly-Pro-Glu). This modification eliminates binding to IGF binding proteins, enhancing bioactivity.

Mechanism of Action

Des(1-3)IGF-1 demonstrates approximately 10-fold greater potency than standard IGF-I in stimulating cellular growth due to reduced sequestration by IGF binding proteins (Ballard et al., 1996).
